Vitamins & Cognition

Scientists were interested in the impact on cognition of multivitamin and mineral supplements.  In the study, 492 participants, over 60 years old, took either a daily Haleon; Centrum Silver® multivitamin and mineral supplement or a placebo for 2 years.

The multivitamin and mineral supplement participants experienced a modest, yet statistically significant improvement in global cognition and episodic memory, compared with the placebo participants.  Global cognition is often assessed to determine dementia risk and includes attention, memory, language, and visuospatial skills.  Episodic memory is the capacity to learn, retain, and recall detailed information about personal experiences.

Takeaway:  This research suggests that a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement is protective against cognitive decline.

Well-being is a journey, not a quick fix.
